35 Year Old Tonna "Boy Racer" In Prison

Saturday, August 11th 2012 08:30

A Tonna motorist who once had his car confiscated by Police because of his poor driving has been jailed for causing a fatal collision.

Kevin Sparkes admitted causing the death of 21 year old Samuel Mortimer by careless driving.

Sparkes, whose own wife described him as a "35 year old boy racer" collided with Mr. Mortimer's car on the B4242 at Glynneath.

Experts believe Mr. Sparkes took the corner where the incident took place too quickly, estimating his Audi may have been travelling at 66mph at the time of the accident.

Swansea Crown Court heard that Sparkes had been warned about his driving twice by Police - on one occasion his car was confiscated.

Sparkes has been jailed for 20 months, and banned from driving for 3 years.

Judge Paul Thomas said he hoped Sparkes never gets behind the wheel again.
