Warnings for pursuit officers

Friday, January 27th 2012 06:30

Follows probe by the Independent Police Complaints Commission

Five South Wales police officers have been given written warnings for disobeying orders to stop pursuing a man who went on to crash into a wall and later died.

Lee Lewis was driving a car which he'd taken without permission in Port Talbot in 2008 and drove off when the officers tried to stop him.

The 22-year-old was pursued and crashed into a wall.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission found the officers ignored orders from the control room to stop chasing him.
