A waitress has received a $446 (£290) tip, despite the patron's bill coming to just $5.91 (£3.84).

CeCe Bruce - a server at a Steak 'n Shake branch in Indianapolis, Indiana - was left the large tip by a regular customer known as Miss Jo.

Miss Jo did not give a reason for her generosity but insisted that Bruce accept the money.

Bruce told a local station: "At first I thought, '$46?' And I said, 'Miss Jo, that's really generous!'

"When I looked again, I said 'Oh my gosh Miss Jo, I'm not taking that!' And she said, 'Yes, you're taking it' and I said no and she said 'You need to take it'."

The benefactor had apparently seen Bruce having a "hard time" with another table before leaving the tip and did not want any thanks for the kind gesture.

Around three million parents still have their grown-up children living with them at home, a report revealed yesterday.

The survey shows the average age of the children, dubbed ‘failed fledglings’, is 27 – although some are in their forties.

It highlights the nightmare facing a generation of young adults, who cannot afford to rent a place of their own or buy property.

A life-sized Barbie's Dreamhouse has opened to visitors in Germany. Visitors are greeted to a giant pink high-heeled shoe statue in the front driveway. Inside the house are Barbie's kitchen and living room, which is decorated in several shades of pink. Guests are even allowed to try on a few of Barbie's outfits from the bedroom

Officials in Keene, New Hampshire, aren’t impressed with a group of local do-gooders.

The city is suing the group known as "Robin Hood and his Merry Men.”

Officials say members of Robin Hood and his Merry Men have been illegally feeding parking meters that would otherwise expire.

The group claims they aren’t doing anything illegal.

There is a video on YouTube that features two men who were left screaming in agony after volunteering to 'experience childbirth' by being attached to a labour pains simulator. As their amused wives look on, the pair grimace as the intensity of the fake labor pains slowly increase. Covering their faces with pillows, the two men are filmed screaming and kicking their legs in apparent agony.

More than three million British drivers have fallen asleep behind the wheel in the last year, according to new research.

Almost one in 10 (3.4 million) of the UK's more than 38 million motorists "nodded off" while driving, a survey for LV= car insurance firm found.

It contributed to at least 3,357 fatigue-related accidents which have been recorded over the past five years, according to official police figures obtained by the company.

Among the main causes were long and monotonous roads, a lack of sleep, driving long distances to a holiday destination or after a late work shift.

A fifth (19%) of those surveyed confessed they had hardly been able to keep their eyes open while driving and close to a third (28%) had driven while drowsy.

Researchers found that those over 55 smile more than other age group, indicating that life gets better as we near retirement and start to put work stresses behind us.

And those under 55 not only smile less often, they are more likely to fake a grin – especially where their boss is concerned – indicating that career pressures are our greatest source of unhappiness.

Half of over-55s smile more than ten times a day – far more than younger age groups.

The study also found that nearly 70 per cent of over-55s say they have never faked a smile, suggesting they are the happiest age group.

In comparison, those aged 35 to 44 are apparently the least smiley, with 5 per cent saying they never grin.

Those younger than 55 are also much more likely to fake a smile, with only 35 per cent claiming they’ve never been less than genuine.

The study shows how men and women develop new interests as they mature – and how the genders are often out of sync.

While women tend to take exercise seriously from the age of 34, for example, the average man waits until his 45th birthday before working hard to get in shape.

Roses are the nation's favourite garden flower, according to a new poll.

Thirty per cent of Britons said the rose was their top growing plant, followed by fuschias (23 per cent) and lavender (20 per cent).

Geraniums (19 per cent) and tomato plants (eight per cent) made up the top five, the poll of 3,600 gardeners carried out by Dobbies Garden Centres found

There will be celebrations in Florida this weekend after a lottery player beat odds of one in 175 million to take home the $590 million jackpot.

After a frenzied few days of buying the $2 tickets across the nation, the winning numbers of 10-13-14-22-52 and a Powerball of 11 were drawn on Saturday night.

In what must be a lucky streak for the Sunshine State, Florida was also the setting for the draw, which broke Powerball records with its final jackpot of $590,500,000.

David Bishop of the Florida Lottery confirmed that the winning ticket was sold at a Publix supermarket in Zephyrhills.

In total, there were 7,598,547 winning tickets, with prizes starting at $4 and moving up to $1 million, before reaching the huge jackpot.

Well, its’ finally arrived! The last day of the season and the Swans have defied the critics and had a fantastic year in the Premier League!

Back in August as the new season got underway all the talk was about survival and ‘Second Season’ syndrome.

Here we are on the morning of the last game of the Premier League Table guaranteed 9^th place and could even finish the season in 8^th with the League Cup in the Trophy Cabinet and European football next season!

There is real cause to celebrate when that final whistle blows later on today at The Liberty as once again The Swans have done us proud and I for one am always proud to be a Jack!

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Paul is possibly facing death. Yet he knows that his life, his future, is securely in the Lord's hands. The Holy Spirit will help empower him to be what he needs to be in the face of persecution and hardship. The Spirit will also work for his deliverance; either he will be delivered from prison and death to serve others, or he will be delivered into the presence of the Lord he loves. Either way, he awaits and expects deliverance!

Heart and Soul Prayer for the Morning!

O LORD, God Almighty, please give me the courage to never waiver in my confidence in your deliverance. In addition, dear Father, I have several beloved friends who are fighting for their lives with physical problems. Please bless them with your deliverance, whether it is your healing that restores their health or your grace that insures their future is with you and your triumphant Son, Jesus, in whose name I pray. Amen.

This one claims to be better for you than a salad.

Created by a professor of human nutrition, it is billed as the world’s healthiest pizza and the only ready meal that is nutritionally balanced.

The Eat Balanced pizza, which comes in three flavours, incorporates vitamin and mineral-rich ingredients such as ground seaweed and red pepper into its flour base and tomato sauce.

Analysis shows the pizzas, which cost around £3.50, to be healthier than shop-bought salads.

A Bee keeper in the states has produced the most expensive honey to hit the shelves and restaurants and top brand shops are desperate to get their hands on the produce, the retail price for a normal jar is over £300. It’s expense is down to the queen bee who is the largest in the world which therefore attracts the best bees to produce the honey.

An American artist has set up a website selling oversized, life-like baby masks for adults, he sells his latex creations online for just over £150 and has even filmed promotional YouTube videos for the 'baby heads', which are available in three expressions - 'happy', 'crying' and 'disgusted'.

A gym fanatic is suing his local gym in Germany after his treadmill seemed to malfunction whilst he was on it and went from a comfortable speed of 7mph to a leg busting 26mph which in turn threw the man off the back of the treadmill and injuring his ankle. The gym have apologised and are investigating the problem.

On Sunday afternoon, at a science fiction convention in England, two rival sci-fi clubs got into a fight.

The Norwich "Star Wars” Club and the Norwich Sci-Fi Club have a long rivalry, and on Sunday, it turned into a brawl.

It’s not clear just how physical it got . . . or how many light sabers were involved . . . but the police were able to break it up pretty easily. No arrests were made.

On Monday afternoon, a 61-year-old man in Texas borrowed his mam and dad’s car, which is pretty embarrassing.

And it’s especially bad since he borrowed it to go ROB a Subway. He got about $80, but the employees took down the plate number.

The cops went to his parents’ house, they immediately turned on him, and he was arrested for robbery.

A survey in Scotland has revealed some fabulous excuses from tenants who don’t fancy paying their rent.

The Letting Protection Service Scotland questioned landlords across the country and the excuse voted best was: "I have a phobia about touching my cheque book” followed by "my father died”, especially when it had been used more than once.

Director of the organisation Kevin Firth said "There are certainly some entertaining answers there.
But at the end of the day they are all just excuses and excuses don’t wash.”

A suitcase containing $50,000 has been discovered in an Australian charity shop.

The money was found when a customer came forward to buy it, with sales assistants unaware of the bag's contents,

The Pomona charity shop in Queensland was selling the item for $5.

After the discovery was made, staff at the shop reported it to the police, who led a two-week investigation.

A woman has since come forward after describing the bag in detail and told them the exact amount of money inside.

The Fire Department in New York Rescued a Cat Stuck in a Tree . . . and the Cop Who’d Tried to Rescue the Cat First Yesterday afternoon, in Queens, a cat got stuck about 30 feet up in a tree. And a cop actually took the time to climb up to try and save him. Try is the key word, since the cop did not save the cat . . . and he ended up getting stuck in the tree too. Finally, the fire department showed up with a ladder, and rescued both the cat and the cop.

An Australian Dentist, Doctor Brewer gave gas to a patient for a large tooth exraction and then went out to deal with a patient who was disputing a bill for treatment in reception - The dentist was assaulted and the Polic e were called and asked the Dr Brewer to go to the station to make a statement.The Receptionist then locked up and went home after forgetting the patient was there. The patient came to managed to find her mobile phone and called police, who managed to rescue her through a window.

According to a new study, the average Brit spends an eye-watering £440 for every wedding we attend - that amounts to an entire week's salary every time someone ties the knot.

And with most of us attending five weddings per year, our matrimonial attendance is costing us a total of £2,180 every year.

Not surprisingly, the British women surveyed saw their outfit as being the most important part of being a wedding guest.

With so many cameras flashing and potential Facebook tags awaiting, it comes as no surprise that a staggering 70 per cent of women choose to spend more on their outfit than they do on their accommodation.

Accommodation came in second place when it came to costs, with 61 per cent shelling out over £150 for an evening of celebration.

When it comes to a wedding gift, over half of those generous wedding guests surveyed said they spend over £100 on a present for the happy couple.

The least amount of money gets spent on alcohol, with 44 per cent spending over £50 on tipples on the big day.

Irish snack company Tayto have developed a cheese and onion crisps chocolate bar. A limited edition run have sold out quickly in Ireland. They were made thanks to thousands of requests from fans the bars are described as unusual and described it as "crunchy chocolate and then a lingering taste of cheese of onion".

Every year, Dorset, Minnesota, picks a name out of a hat, and that person becomes the mayor for a year.

And this year it was four-year-old Bobbie Tufts who will now ba calling the shots in the town for the next 12 months.

Mayor Tufts apparently likes to play, dance, sing, and talk to his townspeople, but he also likes to sneak off to the lake with his parents in his downtime and fish.

He likes to catch plenty of crappie, muskies, and bass. He says the best bait to use is leeches and worms. Mayor Tufts told reporters he also has a girlfriend named Sophia.

John Lewis has apologised for selling a globe marked with the Argentine name of the Falklands Islands. It's an embarrassing oversight, and appalling timing as the row over this territory continues to attract strong feeling on all sides.

According to a reports , the 'vintage inspired' globe names the Falkland Islands as the Islas Malvinas - the Argentine name for the islands. The British Overseas territory is made up of 61% Falkland Islanders (mostly of British descent) and 29% British, and is known by its British name everywhere on the island.

Falklands veteran Simon Weston OBE told the newspaper that the store should 'hang its head in shame'.

A spokesman for John Lewis said the initial sample had the correct name, but a second batch included the incorrect label. It added that as soon as it was aware of the error it contacted the Indian supplier and insisted all further stock was correct.

However, this isn't the first time that a printing error has slipped past those who ought to know better.

In January 2011 it was the turn of Boots, which printed a t-shirt saying 'Dog, your such a dude'.

In October 2010 a leisure centre in Salford eventually took down a sign advertising its 'Indoor Bowels Hall'.

Football teams are not immune either. David Beckham took to the pitch in 1997 for a Charity Shield match with his shirt marked Beckam.

But perhaps the best came from the Scottish Parliament, which carved the name of author Alasdair Gray - along with a well-known quote - into the new Holyrood building. Unfortunately not only did they spell his name wrong, but they included a quote from another author entirely.

An American Airlines pilot was forced to make an emergency landing after a passenger refused to stop singing Whitney Houston's hit song I Will Always Love You.

The solo performance began shortly into the flight from Los Angeles to New York and her crooning quickly became too much for passengers and staff on the domestic flight last Thursday.

The pilot was forced to change course halfway through the six hour flight and make an unscheduled stop at Kansas City so officers could escort the woman from the plane.

The woman was interviewed and later released without charge.

But according to nostalgic Brits, nothing can trump the music, fashion and sporting successes of the Sixties as they vote it the best of all the past eight decades.

Three quarters of those polled cited the music scene as the reason they would love to have lived in - or are glad they experienced - the Swinging Sixties, while the next biggest group named culture, fashion and sporting events as the reason they rate the Sixties.

The study, which asked Brits to recall their fondest iconic moments and memories from the past eight decades, found that with 40 per cent of the votes, Sixties legends The Beatles are unrivalled when it comes to best British band. Queen and The Rolling Stones are next in line.

Even the younger generations quizzed are fans of Sixties music too, with over a quarter of 18-24-year-olds voting for The Beatles over new bands

And as for fashion favourites, the miniskirt, ‘Little Black Dress’ and bikini are the nation’s highest rated looks of the past 75 years - although men were six times more likely to vote for the bikini, and twice as likely to vote for the miniskirt than women.

The latest trend in holidaymaking is going on a retro, or the so-called 'inherited holiday'.

According to a survey, almost half - 48 per cent - of Brits have done so with 27 per cent going back to childhood holiday spot at least once in the last two years.

A further 52 per cent admit they've been on a similar type of break as they did on their childhood getaways.

The study also found that holidaymakers choose to go back to a childhood haunt do so because they are tired and tested and offer good value for money.

When it comes to passing on holiday traditions to our children, the activities we'd most like them to inherit closely mirror Brits' top holiday memories, with 70 per cent of the top 10 being the same

A Brighton resident has reported a sighting of a 'vortex to another dimension'.

The concerned citizen, who remained anonymous, explained that they had seen the vortex on Montreal Road and had later noticed a large snake escaping from it.

The person reported the May 2 sighting on the Fix My Street website, writing: "I was recently walking my dog around the Hanover area of Brighton when I noticed that a wormhole or vortex has opened up on Montreal Road.

"On closer inspection it seems to be some kind of portal to other times, places and dimensions. I would have investigated further, but I was concerned my little dog would be sucked into it.

"Is this meant to be there? At first I believed it might be part of the Brighton Festival, but I believe it could be a hazard to the general public. I look forward to your response."

Brits are losing their taste for white sliced bread, with sales of pre-wrapped loaves falling by 31million last year.

Having a positive outlook and making new friends could be as important to your health as diet and exercise, scientists have revealed.

People with a positive outlook have more upbeat emotions, which leads them to make more social connections, which in turn leads to an 'upward spiral' to better physical health, a study showed.

The research also found it is possible for a person to 'self-generate' positive emotions which can cause them to become physically healthier.

A swarm of leaping grasshoppers joined Paul McCartney on stage on Monday night at his concert in Brazil.

The insects — which nearly covered the stage at some points – seemed to really like Sir Paul, because several landed on him and stayed there for about an hour.

Most women are so attached to their make-up that a recent study revealed they would rather cancel a date than go without.

So it won't come as a surprise then that the average British woman's bathroom cabinet is worth £1,964.30 - what will shock is the news that only £327 worth of products are used regularly.

A new study reveals that most women own 65 beauty products, which cost on average £30.22 each.

But the vast majority of these beauty products are rarely used - less than a sixth were used daily by the women polled.

But there are some women for whom shopping for beauty products is clearly an obsession.

Over one in eight women (17.6 per cent) had beauty products worth in excess of £3,000, and nearly one in five women (19.2 per cent) had managed to stock-pile over 130 different beauty products.

At the extreme end of the spectrum, nearly three per cent of women had over £5,000 worth of cosmetics stored away in their bathroom cabinet.

The survey also found that most women clear out their cabinet once a year but nearly one in eight admitted they only do so when they move house. A quarter of women kept products in their cupboard that were up to three years old.

More than 78,000 people from 120 different countries have so far applied to leave Earth and permanently move to the planet Mars.

The openings come from a new reality television series from Dutch non-profit organisation Mars One.

Their plan is to document a decade-long ambition to begin a new settlement on Mars.

There is a two-year selection process, and those successful are expected to train for a further seven years for the project.

Mars One's official website states that there have been 17,324 applicants from America, 10,241 from China and 3,581 from the United Kingdom

106-year-old Marjorie Hemmerde of Kew, Australia just married a man who’s 33 YEARS YOUNGER than her. Now THAT’S a cougar taking down her prey.

Marjorie and 73-year-old Gavin Crawford met three years ago at the Kew Gardens Nursing Home. According to Marjorie, quote, "We just sort of melted into each other. We get along like old friends, the age gap doesn’t matter.”

Motorists who put lives at risk by sending text messages at the wheel are to face tougher penalties.

Fines will be increased by 50 per cent to £90, Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin indicated yesterday. However critics said the higher penalty has to be backed up by tougher enforcement as texting by drivers is now rife.

Announcing the crackdown, Mr McLoughlin admitted he had used a mobile phone to make calls while driving, although he would not do so now.

Nearly half of American parents have admitted that they have taken money from their children's savings accounts, and half of those said they did not even feel guilty about it.

A study polled 2,578 parents across the country to determine whether they had been in financial situations so desperate that it warranted borrowing from a child's funds.

Of those who confessed they had dipped into their children's accounts, most said they needed the funds to pay bills, whilst a few admitted they put the money towards a family vacation.

A local cinema is handing out free life insurance to those scared of watching horror movie Evil Dead.

The remake of the cult classic comes with the tagline, "the most terrifying film you will ever experience".

Jamie Hughes, deputy manager of the Gwyn Hall cinema in Neath, said: "Because of [the tagline] we

are offering all our customers a free Scare Care policy."

Moviegoers will receive a golden insurance certificate which will help with the costs of a funeral if anyone happens to die of fear,

"We will pay their funeral costs - up to the value of their cinema ticket," Hughes explained.

"Obviously it's a bit of fun, [but it's also] some added value because they would not get this in any other cinema."

The film starring Suburgatory star Jane Levy follows a group of friends who head to a remote cabin in the middle of the woods, only to be stalked by demonic forces.
