Swansea City back FSF Safer Standing Campaign

Swansea City has given its support to the Football Supporters Federation's campaign to re-introduce standing at football matches.

The aim is to persuade the Government, football authorities and football clubs to accept the case for introducing, on a trial basis, limited sections of standing areas at selected grounds in the stadiums of Premier League and Championship football clubs.

What do you think?

In the Swansea City V Stoke City match programme (19 January 2013) I give my views.

To read more about the campaign visit:

Swans pour cold water on Liverpool speculation

Swansea City has this afternoon poured cold water on speculation linking Brendan Rodgers with a move to Anfield.

A club spokesman told Swansea Sound that:

- There has been no approach from Liverpool to speak to the Swansea boss.

- Rodgers' return from the US was as scheduled and not for "crunch talks" with the chairman (as had been widely reported by some media sources)

- Rodgers and chairman Huw Jenkins met this morning. The meeting was a scheduled one and it saw the pair discuss transfer targets.

- The Liverpool manager's job "was not mentioned" during this morning's meeting.

LISTEN AGAIN: STID - Who was Roger Evans ??

Last Friday on swansea Til I Die I spoke to Paul Morgan, who played guitar on the original Swansea City Song.

The song, which is almost 35 years old, was sung by Roger Evans - a songwriter that little is known about.

Paul and I chatted about the song, and Roger Evans, in an interview that has had such feedback I have decided to included it here (in two parts) for those who either missed it or would like to listen again.

Swansea Till I Die - The Roger Evans story!

"Take me to the Vetch Field... Way down by
the sea... Where I will follow Swansea... Swansea City"

It's almost 35 years since Roger Evans penned the original - and best -
Swansea City Song!

But just who was Roger Evans?

How did the song come about?

What happened to Roger after the success of the
song?

And which worldwide music legend approached Roger
and asked him to write a similar song for his favourite team?

This Friday on Swansea Til I Die, I'll be speaking
to the Swans fan who put the music to Roger's classic lyrics and will be getting
answers to all these questions... and more!

There'll also be extensive preview of Saturday's
home game against Wolves.

Swansea Til I
Die... Friday... 6pm-7pm.

Injured Ferrie Bodde returns to Holland to be with his family

Ferrie Bodde is back in Holland to be with his family and consider his future, manager Brendan Rodgers told this afternoon's media gathering.

Rodgers confirmed that the injured knee was not the one that has undergone three years of rehabilitation, but said the midfielder needed to be with his immediate loved ones at this time.

The scans cannot be done yet because of the swelling but the manager did not rule out that the new injury could be as career threatening as the others.

He said Ferrie needed to decide if he was prepared to undergo another comeback, with all the psychological demands and long term health risks that that involved.

Swans boss cools Bodde first team talk

SWANSEA City manager Brendan Rodgers has dismissed claims that midfielder Ferrie Bodde could play for the first team in the near future.

The Dutchman has been out of action for most of the last three years with a damaged knee ligament but he played 45 minutes for the reserves at Hereford on Wednesday.

This prompted fans on internet forums to begin guessing which game Bodde would make his return to the first XI, with one fan even suggesting Sunday against Arsenal as a possibility.

At his weekly press conference, Rodgers said such talk was massively wide of the mark and said he had no expectations for this season.
