- You cannot legally watch Martin
Luther Kings’s "I Have A Dream Speech” for free! It's
copyrighted material, and it costs $10 to get any video/audio or $20 for the
entirety of the speech. Dr. King’s family owns the rights to his speech until
the year 2038! But
why is it copyrighted? Usually speeches are in the public domain, however, The
estate of Dr. King sued Twentieth Century Fox in 1963 for selling records of
his speech without permission. Since then, the speech has been disputed to be
in the public domain as well as staying copy-written.
- An office
supplies company makes a $2,995 chair that has an emergency parachute in the
back! It's
called a "SeatChute".
- Owls have very large eyes with a tubular shape that prevents movement inside their head so they have to swivel their whole heads
- The first text message was sent 19 years ago! It was sent by Neil Papworth, who texted Vodafone director
Richard Jarvis at a staff Christmas party the full greeting 'Happy Christmas'
- CBS's fine for Janet Jackson's "wardrobe malfunction" in the 2004 Super Bowl show was £286,000. This could be paid with only 7.5 seconds of commercial time during the same Super Bowl telecast.
- For security reasons, Prince Charles & Prince William are never allowed to fly on the same plane!
- If a person is "aerophobic" they have an irrational fear of draughts. Someone who is "scoptophobic" has an intense fear of being seen. "Gymnophobia" is a fear of nakedness!
- The director of Lord Of The Rings, Peter Jackson gave his Oscar statues to his kids because they wanted a "bedside table object" ;-)
