News Team

Emma Grant - News Editor

Studied Journalism Degree at Cardiff University and Post Graduate Diploma at Highbury College in Portsmouth.

Started within radio at age 18 making cups of tea for Swansea Sound’s overnight presenters. Since qualifying as a broadcast journalist I have worked for several radio and TV stations. Came back to the Wave and Swansea Sound eight years ago to take up the role of News Editor. Highlights over the years include interviewing Tony Blair, Tom Jones and various sport personalities. I have covered some of South Wales’ biggest court cases and was Assembly Correspondent for the first few years of devolution. My most unusual jobs include interviewing Princess Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell whilst surrounded by the Prince of Wales Guards.. bumping into the The Spice Girls at the height of their fame… hitching a lift with Jazz supremo Larry Adler and reading a news bulletin whilst sitting next to Joe Calzaghe!!!

Lexy Blackwell

Our very own Lexy blackwell has been at the station for a number of years and here's her favourite moments!

"Best bits have to be getting chatted up by Rory Bremnar while picking up our national news award in London; interviewing boxer Enzo Maccrinelli and Bonnie Tyler after one too many glasses of wine and Jonny B making me laugh uncontrollably whilst reading a news bulletin.

I've covered a massive variety of stories - from drugs busting with South Wales police in dawn raids; visiting the European Parliament in Brussels interviewing top politicians; sitting in Swansea Crown Court following big murder trials; covering our Rugby boys Grand Slam; following Swansea city's promotion to the Championship and parade of our city.

I have a Biology degree from Bristol University and Post Grad/Masters in Broadcast Journalism from University College Falmouth.

Alex Field

I studied Multimedia Journalism at Bournemouth University, and then worked in TV and print journalism before realising my passion for local radio. I freelanced for radio stations in Cambridge and Ipswich before coming to work at The Wave and Swansea Sound in December 2008.

Highlights of my career have included interviewing Boris Johnson and Naomi Campbell - and filming the England football squad in training. I've been on knife stings and even lived on a hippie commune as part on a magazine report.

I love all things Swansea, and feel very privileged to live in one of the most beautiful parts of Britain. My roots are in Wales and it was always inevitable I would come back here one day!
