Welsh Football Hero On A Mental Health Mission

Gareth Bale and David Cotterill celebrate their 3-0 win in the UEFA EURO 2016 Group B match between Russia and Wales at Stadium Municipal on June 20, 2016

Ex-Wales international and former Swansea City player David Cotterill's spoken exclusively to The Wave and Swansea Sound about his latest venture.

David's experienced the highs of football -  representing his country playing alongside the likes of Gareth Bale and Ashley Williams.

He started at Bristol City - moving to the Premier League and ended his career overseas at ATK in the Indian Super League in 2018.

Since retiring from football the 31 year old's become a mental health ambassador for the Football Association. He'll be heading to the United States in April to work with youth teams out there.

David's also setting up his own foundation which aims to help those who are struggling with mental health or self-esteem to get fit. He's teaming up with a gym in Cardiff but hopes to take the project Wales-wide.

There was a time when he was reluctant to talk about his experiences but has decided to speak out in a bid to help others.
