Dozens found training inside Swansea facility
A Swansea gym has been ordered to shut after 25 people were found working out there during the coronavirus lockdown.
Council officers inspecting the gym were shocked to find the car park full and dozens training inside.
It broke Government restrictions meaning gyms are still closed to prevent Covid-19 spreading
Bomking's gym in Fforestfach has been ordered to close - and may face a hefty fine.
Swansea Magistrates' Court heard council officials visited the gym three times in June.
Craig Davies, spokesman for Swansea Council, said: "The business initially opened and closed.
"It became apparent last week the business had re-opened. Officers attended the gym and provided a prohibition notice and fixed penalty.
"Officers were advised the gym would not be closing and would remain open.
"That action did not have the teeth we required and the local authority decided to use this to close the business.
"Officers attended the gym early in the morning and the car park was full and 25 people training inside.
"The roller shutters closed when the officers arrived. People were in the car park waiting for people to leave so they could go inside.
"The gym operates from 6am until 8pm, and the officer saw that many people in just 30 minutes."
An order was made to shut the gym under health protection coronavirus restriction regulations.
