Kids Of The 80s Set To Reunite To Mark 30 Years

Class of '89 on PGL holiday in France

The class of '89 will be marking a big anniversary this year!

Former pupils from Bishopston Comprehensive will be among those across the region marking the big 3-0!

When they left school Madonna, Bananarama, Pat Benatar, Michael Jackson and Heart were dominating the charts.

Kylie and Jason's love story had teenagers running home to watch Neighbours.

Puffballs, rara skirts, jelly bags and shoes were all the rage.

Fast forward 30 years and Madonna is still making music, big hair has been replaced by huge eyebrows ...and guess what?? jelly bags are back!

The era is influencing everything from Stranger Things, to radio stations like the Wave 80s.

Demand is huge with the 80s Invasion Tour featuring Sister Sledge, Jason Donovan, The Fizz, Five Star, Martika, Hue & Cry and Living In A Box.

Local Swansea band Taurus 1984 is also harking back to the age of synth-pop and has just got tour dates booked in New York and Tokyo.

The Mumbles mile was the place to be on the weekend - with nightclubs Cinderellas, Neptunes and Bentley's crammed full of teenagers.

So as the class of '89 prepares to mark their special year..we're helping former pupils at Bishopston Comprehensive reconnect with their friends.

It's the year our News Editor Emma Grant left school too - so she caught up with former classmate Kirsten Collins who is helping organise a big party at the former Bentley's nightclub, now Cafe Play - in Mumbles.
