Police Launch Murder Investigation

73-year-old man found dead near viaduct

A murder investigation has been launched after the discovery of a 73-year-old man's body near Pontwalby viaduct in Glynneath.

Police say they are keen to speak to anyone who was in that area between 2pm and 8pm yesterday and who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously there.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Superintendent Darren George, South Wales Police’s Major crime team said: “The investigation is in its early stages and specialist trained officers are supporting family members. 

“I urge anyone who may have information no matter how insignificant they may think it is to please contact the major incident room.”

A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
