Sala crash report to be published today.

AAIB to reveal findings

The final report on the plane crash which killed Emiliano Sala's due to be published later.

The Argentinan striker was on his way to new club Cardiff City from Nantes in France when the Piper Malibu light aircraft he was travelling in came down 22 nautical miles off Guernsey in January 2019.

Sala and his pilot David Ibbotson both perished.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch will present its findings today.

On Wednesday Dorset Police confirmed no further action would be taken against a 64-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter by an unlawful act in connection with the men's deaths.

Simon Huxter, of Dorset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team, said:
“We have updated the family of Mr Sala and Mr Ibbotson with regard to this development and it goes without saying that our thoughts remain with them, as a result of their unimaginable loss.

“Dorset Police will continue to support the investigation being carried out by the CAA and carry out enquiries on behalf of HM Coroner as part of the inquest process in the hope that the answers that the families of both men seek are provided, which is nothing short of what they thoroughly deserve.”
