Care home worker described as kind and caring
A Swansea nurse has died after contracting coronavirus while working in a care home.
Mum-of-one Lalaine Lopez Pesario, 54, had worked at Mumbles Nursing Home for a year-and-a-half.
Lalaine, of Skewen, passed away from coronavirus on Sunday, May 3.
Yolanda Jones, director of the home, said: "Lalaine was a kind, caring person and also a dedicated nurse. Her sudden loss brought a huge sad impact to our home and the rest of the community.
"She was compassionate and treated everyone with extra care and love. She brought light to our home as she loved to dance and sing.
"She was a generous and an amazing cook who loved to bake cakes and make food for everyone to enjoy.
"Always smiling and laughing, she was a breath of fresh air. She will be dearly loved by the staff and the residents. We will miss her terribly."
A fundraising page has been set up in memory of Lalaine and has already raised over £5,400.
A post on the page said: "Lalaine Lopez Pesario, a loving wife, mother, sister, auntie and a friend, may have lost the battle to Covid-19, but she was a warrior who bravely fought and risked her life in the name of service and dedication to her profession.
"She is, and will forever be, our hero. Lalaine's kindness and generosity was overflowing. Her smile and laugh was infectious.
"Those who know her can attest that she could talk for endless hours about anything and everything, and her voice is definitely one that we will all miss."
