Warning of Bank Holiday Roadworks

£80,000 traffic scheme on route into city

An £80,000 traffic improvement project will take place over the bank holiday weekend in Swansea.

Resurfacing will take place on the A483 southbound - between Junction 47 of the M4 and Cadle roundabout.

It'll take between two and three days and diversions will be put in place.

Mark Thomas, Cabinet Member for Environment and Infrastructure said: “The A483 inbound from the A483 at the M4 junction 47 is normally one of our busiest routes.

“Due to the coronavirus pandemic and Welsh Government regulations on people taking essential journeys only, the amount of traffic using the route is lower than normal.

“So it is sensible to do this useful improvement now to minimise the inconvenience to traffic while this important work is completed.

“The northbound carriageway between Cadle roundabout and the M4 will not be affected by the work. Naturally, the workforce will be observing the social distancing rules to keep themselves and the public safe.”

It’s anticipated that the road will close at 7am on Saturday, May 23rd, and re-open by no later than 8am on Monday 25th May.
